During blasting, many mines
lose loads of their best coal.

... but for Rix's Creek, we helped reduce coal losses by up to 30%.

At Rix's Creek in NSW, overburden up to 45 metres had to be blasted and moved to get to a one metre thick seam of coal.  This thick seam happened to be the highest quality of coal they were selling.  But because of the massive overlying sandstone conglomerate, they were experiencing severe losses.  In February 2002, DynoConsult started a research project with the aim being to reduce the amount of coal being lost.  Together with their onsite management team, our experience, expertise and 'can do' attitude led to a reduction of coal loss by implementing new drill and blast patterns.  The result being a reduction in coal loss of up to 30%.  A figure both Rix's Creek and us were extremely happy with.  To find out how we can help turn around your mining business, contact your local Dyno Nobel representative, or visit our Consulting section.
