Nitromak Dyno Nobel Supports Local Hospital with PPE Donation

In support of health workers in Turkey, Nitromak Dyno Nobel (NDN) recently donated critical personal protective equipment (PPE) to staff on the front line of the Covid-19 crisis at Soma State Hospital (SSH).

Soma is a town in the west of Turkey with population just over 100,000 people and is known for its coal mines. Operating in the region since 1999, NDN has an has an important role in extracting natural resources required for heating and electricity production across the country.

With over 30 years of operation, comes strong ties with the local communities in which NDN operates.

As the COVID-19 crisis unfolded, members of the NDN Soma site team decided to do more to support medical staff in the town. They contacted SSH to find out what the doctors and nurses needed the most, in order to respond to the challenges of the epidemic effectively.

With the hospital’s feedback we were able to work together to supply spare PPE, delivering 100 protective bodysuits and 4,000 disposable aprons. The PPE is now being used to protect the state hospital staff who are working on the frontline treating Coronavirus patients.

Doctor in Chief at SSH, Ali Osman Caglayan told me, “We are so grateful to the team at NDN, who came forward to help us at this unprecedented time, with support and a much-needed donation.

“We have been receiving personal protective equipment through our supply chain however we know there is a huge demand for supplies nationally and globally which is a challenge. This extra support is vital as we use hundreds of pieces of PPE everyday across our hospital.”

I am so proud that my team and I could act quickly to deliver this vital PPE to where it was needed most during these challenging times. The staff at the state hospital have thanked us and it’s great to know the PPE is being used by the amazing frontline workers in our local community to ensure proper respond to the disease.
