Retirement Announcement for EJ Burke

After more than 24 years with Dyno Nobel and over 52 years in the explosives industry, EJ Burke has decided that it is a good time to retire. While it will be sad to see EJ leave us, I am very happy for him that he has arrived at such a place in his career considering all that he has accomplished with Dyno Nobel and for our customers.

EJ has said that he is “privileged to have started his career with the best explosives company in the industry (DuPont at the time) and now end his career with the best explosives company in the industry (Dyno Nobel)”. EJ’s most recent role has been corporate Brand and Values Ambassador but he has held many senior and key roles in the Company over the years including SVP National Sales, VP Industry Development Quarry, and General Manager Stone.

EJ, with his unique level of passion, commitment and energy, has been instrumental in re-focusing the Company’s efforts back on our customers and will always be known for such signature phrases as “in the beginning, there was the customer” and “treat everybody, be they a prince or a pauper, with the same respect and care”. The customer relationships that EJ has established and strengthened over a long period of time will endure as part of his legacy along with cornerstone achievements such as the establishment of the Quarry and Mining Academies and the Major Customer Health and Safety Forum. EJ will officially retire in December this year which will provide us with the opportunity to make contact and bid him farewell over the coming months. During retirement EJ plans to spend more time with his family and take an increased role in his daughter’s Disability Ministry.

On behalf of us all, I would like to thank EJ for the significant contribution he has made to both Dyno Nobel and the explosives industry throughout his impressive career and wish him a safe, happy and healthy retirement.

Best regards,
Braden Lusk
President Dyno Nobel Americas
