Dyno Nobel moves global HQ to Queensland 

Global leader in explosives Dyno Nobel has moved its global headquarters (HQ) to Brisbane, Queensland, in a bid to be closer to its customers and major manufacturing facility in the Bowen Basin.  

The ASX-100 company’s new HQ, now based in Brisbane inner-city fringe Fortitude Valley, overlooks the famous Brisbane Exhibition Ground. 

In 2025 Dyno Nobel completed the separation and sale of its Incitec Pivot fertilisers business to Ridley Corporation. It also announced it would move its HQ from Melbourne to Brisbane as part of the strategy to become the leading global explosives company, united under the brand name that traces its roots back to Alfred Nobel, the Swedish inventor of dynamite and the founder of the esteemed Nobel Prizes. 

Now a pure-play explosives company, Dyno Nobel’s new CBD location brings together 250 staff, including some who were previously housed at the Gibson Island plant, as well new roles which have transferred to Brisbane from Victoria.  

Dyno Nobel CEO Mauro Neves said a Queensland-based HQ ‘made sense’, as mining ‘skyrockets’ in Queensland and the company continues to expand in Australia and around the world. 

“Australia, and Queensland, is known around the world as a critical minerals powerhouse, and I'm thrilled to move our global HQ to such an important region with so much going on,” he said. 

Located in the light-filled lobby of the two-floor building, the new HQ hosts a new global museum, featuring the history of explosives and the company’s 160-year heritage dating back to the pioneers of the explosives industry, Alfred Nobel, William Bickford and Dr. Melvin Cook. 

The interactive museum showcases Dyno Nobel’s history as a global explosives maker, dating back to the invention of the safety fuse in 1831 and the patent of dynamite by Alfred Nobel in 1867. Chronicling key sites including the company’s Moranbah Ammonium Nitrate Plant, as well as sites in the US with over 175 years in operation, the clear theme is safety, which the ASX100 company is unwaveringly obsessed with. 

Dyno Nobel’s new open plan office occupies the top two levels of the Green Square North Tower building, complete with sky signage rights. The modern layout provides a contrast to it’s manufacturing plant at Gibson Island, and features a communal eating area, breakout wintergardens for table tennis and foosball competitions and swinging chairs.  

Mauro Neves said the design was deliberate. “Our team work hard and it was very important to me that we provide areas for connection and collaboration with colleagues. 

“Culture - what we refer to as ‘The Nobel Way’ - is something we are obsessed with at Dyno Nobel, and this new office is a physical testament to this,” Mr Neves said. 

The office was officially opened by Premier David Crisafulli MP on Friday 28 August 2026 with customers, government stakeholders, team members and suppliers in attendance.
